oh, my gosh. thank you!

i love all these quotes i'm hearing by zooey deschanel lately. that woman is such a woman, just by the fact that she embraces her femininity (as seen in photo above). i love this.

the truth is, i've grown up in a family where the "woman jokes" were/are tossed around carelessly. you know the ones i'm talking about... involving kitchens and barefeet, driving, "you throw like a girl," etc., etc.. yeah, i laugh with the rest of them, but secretly it just bugs me that women are so often not appreciated for the traits that are innate to them. i sincerely believe that God empowered us with these seemingly (to men?) weaknesses. maybe i've just been around too many of the wrong men (a serious possibility). so that fact that someone, someone popular, is speaking out a little about the tenderness and vulnerability of a woman (or anyone, for that matter) is something i applaud. just reading that little quote inspires me. i don't like to be told that i'm too sensitive or emotional, because i feel that it's something to be valued (at least i value that in myself!). anyway. i could go on all day about how that's the kind of woman i would like to embrace in myself, and how i'd love my little sister to think, and my babies someday (if i have some), but i'll stop here.

so girls, if you are reading this (especially you, hannah banana), you are beautiful and blessed with a sensitivity and tenderness for a reason. embrace it and allow yourself to be affected by the little things, grow, and love more than you can imagine possible. it's sometimes scary to think about being open and the possibility of being hurt, but i promise that every love and every tenderness in you will only make you better people and you will grow in your capacity to love.

okay, i'm really done now.
