nothing good comes of not sleeping.
I have to wake up in four hours to get ready for a competition. My mind is racing. I can't sleep.
Bing Crosby sang these words once: "If you're worried and you can't sleep, then count your blessings instead of sheep. And you'll fall asleep counting your blessings."
So, tonight I am thinking of my many, many blessings.
1. I have an incredible family, who love and respect me, support me and protect me.
2. Even though sometimes I get tired of Provo, I dreamt of coming here for years and finally made it. I'm living my dream.
3. I ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch ice cream tonight. It's my favorite, and I hardly get ice cream these days (contrary to popular belief).
4. My stepdad is an incredible person and gives me incredible advice sometimes. It's nice knowing he cares. Considering the situation, I'm pretty darn grateful for him.
5. I have red hair. This red hair turns gold in the sunlight and never gets dull. It's part of my identity.
6. I much prefer having a few close friends than tons surrounding me all the time. And you know what? I happen to be incredible blessed, because I have the dearest and most wonderful friends in the world. I'm completely and totally at a loss as to how I scored them all.
7. Hot water. Months of an warm-to-cold shower made me grateful for that.
8. Dance. At BYU. How do I forget so often that I'm living my dream?
9. The worst moments in my life have all taught me a thing or two about love. The worst moments have tried me. They've had a huge impact on the kind of person I am now. I'm grateful for that.
10. I have a bed to sleep in, an apartment to live in, three wonderful roommates, electricity, clean water, a family, friends, education, and a whole love of love.
11. I know who I am, where I came from, and where I hope to go. I know that I can repent, change, and be forgiven. I know that I am never alone, that I am loved, and that I am known.
It's a wonderful life.
