my tree

I have moments occasionally when I feel especially in need of being alone. Alone and quiet. A lot of the time I can't do that in my apartment, so I have found other locations where I can go to get my quiet me time. There is a special tree outside my apartment that I spend a lot of quiet moments under. A lot of nothingness happens there, and I have grown quite fond of it. If you happen to be walking around the block, don't be surprised to find me laying on a blanket with a book open in my hands, or just staring at the sky.

The other day a friend showed me another tree. It's historical, and huge, and it has buttresses that hold up it's trunk-like branches. From far away it looks like a grove of trees, but once you get to it you are overwhelmed because it is only one. One tree. One huge tree. It's a miracle. I mean, there are three picknick tables under the branches, and room for more. I went back later the day I first saw it to show it to a friend who I thought would appreciate it, and we laid under it for a good hour and a half just staring up through the branches. It takes my breath away.

Here are some pictures I took with my phone today. Please, just appreciate it.
