La Vie En Rose

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose

When you press me to your heart
I’m in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak...angels sing from above
Everyday words seem...to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

This has to be the world's most romantic song. You can't tell me you wouldn't want to slow dance to this at your wedding, in the kitchen, or outside on the streets in Paris. Whether it's sung by Louis Armstrong (my favorite), Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, in French by Edit Piaf (always enjoyable), or in your ear by your significant other... it's transports you to another place far away from this world. It's magical.

Listen to it, and try to prove me wrong. I dare you.

  1. Lara,
I feel so close to you somehow. Yes, it's this privacy-intimacy thing, I guess, about blogging: that a perfect stranger can be touched by your own thoughts, because you put yourself out there. You write beautifully, and you make me feel especially nostalgic because you have this energy and hunger for life, and you're so young, with so much to live for, and you're so aware of it. It's beautiful.
By the way, the song (La vie en rose) is originally in French, though I'm sure you know that. The English version, as you say, is good, but I like the French one, too, of course. Sometimes it's better not to translate or analyze things too much, but if you want, I can send you my version or English translation of the French original.
Are you learning German? Somewhere in your blog I read you were going to go to Austria...
German is one of my strong languages. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (igiduran@yahoo.com)
Good luck with everything and thanks for being so inspiring!
    Ignacio
