A Little Holiday Recap
The most beautiful harbor in the world.
Mom sitting on Santa's lap, Hannah's top knot, Nathan's as tall as me, Steph's a babe, and Spencer is missing (go figure).
Christmas in our home looks a little like that.
The leaning Space Needle on a beautiful day after catching the new Mission Impossible at the Imax theater
This is what fresh (with a little salt), damp, thick air looks like. Heaven.
Spencer cuddled up and fell asleep on my hip while I was reading a book. Adorable, I think.
Look at that pro!
Listening to the great oregon after Compline at St Marks Cathedral in Seattle
Had to snap a little photograph before I left. We basically had our arms around each other for two weeks straight.
Temple Square back in Salt Lake
On a little walk in Spanish Fork on a beautiful day.
How about an update finally? It's starting to take longer and longer to update about these little things because I'm realizing that I really don't have much to ever blog about. Someday I imagine myself with a booming blog, tons of pictures taken on an awesome camera (New Years resolution), and probably stories about a sexy husband and some cute kids. Because, honestly, as much as the whole "mommy blog" is annoying, it's way more entertaining than that of a single college girl. Amiright? Right.
But anyway, I digress. This is about my holiday break in which I got to go home to the beautiful and green Seattle area (I really come from the Gorgeous town of Gig Harbor, not Seattle). It was so nice to be home to relax and recoup after that long semester, which was not the best I have ever seen btw. It was warm (in the 40's most of the time) and wet, so I managed to get out and run a few times, but I'll be honest... I'd like to have been somewhere where there was a bit of white frozen stuff all over everything at Christmas (someday, right?).
Home time would not be complete without time to sit and snuggle with the little kids, which always melts my little heart. Spencer and Nathan were so soft and sweet to me, especially after I got my wisdom teeth removed (UGH). Loved them both the whole two weeks I was home. Spencer helped me bake some chocolate chip cookies, and he even spooned all the cookies onto the cookie sheet. He was so proud. And so was I.
I have the best siblings in the world, people. Best. Spending time with kids is therapeutic.
The rest of the time at home was spent fighting the two other home-from-school-siblings for the car to visit friends and that lovely city down the road we like to spend time in called Seattle. It's a truly magical place, especially at Christmas. In the hour-long drive from Gig Harbor to Seattle we would snack on sourdough bread smothered in nutella and stollen (a traditional German Christmas bread which always succeeds in making me moan a little). I think I've made it fairly apparent that I really like eating, but when I'm home with my family it's like the eating never stops, and if it does people usually start crying. It's quite the affair. We're spoiled rotten. Mom and her mom (Oma) are the best cooks in the entire world, so on top of all the sweets I managed to cram in, I got to sit down to lamb, prime rib, steak tartare, potatoes of all shapes and sizes, a truly amazing borscht (which I made), crepes (which I also made), brie en brioche (SO GOOD!), cheeses and fruits that would blow your mind, cardamom bread, more stollen, carrot soup, egg nog and egg nog ice cream, and about a thousand other things. Food... mmmmm.... good food is so good. We ate and ate and ate. Yes, you may come to Christmas next year at my house.
But after all that, and after all my wisdom teeth being painfully extracted while I was out cold (darn doctor must have punched me in the jaw a few times while I was asleep), I came back. It's always so bittersweet leaving home, but eventually the bitter turns into sweet. I love my hometown and my family, but it's nice to be back to my little life here in Provo (as much as I don't love this city). School started today again, and before I know it the semester will be over and spring will be here. But first to brave the cold winter that will cover these roads in snow and ice in the next few weeks.
Well, there ya go. My holidays. Happy New Year!

love it all! so glad you had a great time back home!!!
