tuesday morning run

1) Joquin park on 4th and 4th. As I approached it, I was struck by how incredible the seasons are. I cannot tell you how many nights I spent lying on that hill during the summer, just staring at the stars, making wishes as some of them shot across the sky. And now it's cold, empty, and white - a memory of beautiful days and nights full of activity and warmth.

2) I didn't pay much attention to what roads I was on, only making sure to stay in low-traffic areas so I could run on the road to avoid ice. This is near Center Street in Provo, and somehow I've never come across it before. I'm a burger girl, so naturally I was interested.

3) One of the many houses for sale in the area, all used up and worn down, in need of a little love. Anybody want to buy it and fix it up with me? We could make it warm, give it new paint (possibly new siding, roofing, insulation, etc. etc.), hang pictures on the walls, put up curtains, add a potted plant or four, and fill the place with the sound of laughter and pitter-patter of little feet? No? Is that going to far?

4) Cold. Wet. Feet.

5) One of the many roads I ran down. Completely empty, a little dark, icy in spots, and all kinds of lovely.

6 & 7) That little magical tree I've mentioned on this place before. I couldn't pass by without stopping. Every season brings some different kind of beauty to it. There was a man playing there with his small dog, kicking around snow, smiling and talking to everyone who walked by. He must have been in his 60's, his hair and beard almost completely white, with the just hint that he had once been a flaming redhead. I instantly liked him. He saw that I liked that tree and said, "isn't it stunning?!" Thank you! Finally someone who appreciates it as much as me! He practically forced me to give him my phone so he could snap a photograph or two of me and the tree, exclaiming once I was done, like they do in west valley (said he): "For cuuuute!" Yup. He totally made my morning. When we parted ways a moment later I began regretting that I hadn't gotten a photo of him, his name, and his story. Shoot.

And there you have it: my less-than-routine Tuesday morning adventure.

Time for class.

    1. Thanks hun! I've been using Piknik on Flikr, but they're getting rid of it on April 1st. I was actually checking out Adobe Photoshop today, ya know, that one that costs an arm and a leg. Can I just tell you that I've been eyeing iphones now so I can use instagram (I use a blackberry)? Oh, and don't even get me started on how badly I want a real camera, like my dad's Nikon D70 or my brother's D700.
