rice krispies.

If you know me, you know that I love rice krispie treats. I have cleaned out friends pantries and vending machines in BYU dormitories. Do not underestimate my love.

Tonight I made a version of these with Riley. They were chocked full of peanut butter and had a thick coating of butterscotch and chocolate on the top (no marshmallows in this version). Needless to say, they are delicious. I couldn't stop eating them, and Riley refused to take them home. Bad idea.

One quick last word about rice krispie treats, if I may: do not use stale marshmallows. Though they are delicious on their own, they are just not suitable for a ricey, sticky treat. Also, when cutting them, don't feel obligated to keep them to 2-inch squares. Heaven knows they are more than palatable when close to the size of bricks.

And that is all I have to say about those. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

3 Tablespoons butter
40 regular size marshmallows, or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups rice krispies

Directions:

1. In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add rice krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into a 13x9x2-inch greased pan. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.

  1. My Dearest Sister, I have some terrible news for you.

Rice Crispies have gluten in them!! It has malted stuff in it... And malt comes from wheat.

    I'm so sorry ...

    P.S. I cried too.
