Good Things

This has been a really good week.  Usually my weeks are just fine, but this one has been exceptional.  Really, right from the get-go!

First of all, I bought tickets to go see Chanticleer with Ryan on Tuesday (which makes me an awesome sister).  We've been listening to them for ten(ish) years, and I thought it was about time we listen to them live.  Best tickets I've ever bought.  It was incredible.  The whole night was such a treat.  I fell in love with one of the soloists, got a picture, got their CD and walked home super happy. Loved Cells Planets.

Secondly, I was accepted to study abroad in Vienna, Austria, at the end of a very successful interview with two very awesome people.  A few days later, after much debate (and watching The Sound of Music and Rick Steves), I finally decided that I'm going to go!  June 20 - August 10 is the program dates.  I'll be living in Vienna, spending some weekends in Salzburg, and a few other cities here and there (Italy is on my list).  I've already decided to work out like a lunatic while I'm over there, otherwise I'm going to turn into a doughnut.  I just can't wait for the chocolate and schnitzle!  I'm looking forward to more than just the food, too.  Museums, dance festivals, balls, film festivals, bike tours across the country, and much much more.  I can hardly sleep at night if I start thinking about it too much.  I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity.  It's hard to believe that I'm finally going after years of dreaming about it (I literally dreamt about Hallstatt a couple months ago).  SO excited.  Also, my blog will be a little less boring during the summer.  Looking forward to that!

Third on my list of good things is a blind date that will take place tomorrow (weeeird).  My darling roommate, Christina, is setting me up with this guy.  It wouldn't be right if I didn't gush about how cute he is, so this is me gushing.  Actually, I accidentally met him today as I was walking to campus with my friend/visiting teacher (who knows this boy).  We ran into said boy as he was walking back from class.  They were pretty excited because they haven't seen each other in a while, so they didn't pay much attention to me for a minute, but finally my friend introduced me.  What were the first words out of my mouth? "Hi, I'm your blind date tomorrow."  Real classy, Lara.  Oh, well!  He seems nice and happy, so we'll have fun.  Stay tuned for a full report.

Moving on.

Fourth?  I'M GOING HOME ON FRIDAY!  I cannot wait.  Nathan is turning twelve (what the heck?!) on Friday, so we thought this would be a good weekend to come home.  Ryan is going to ordain Nathan to the priesthood and pass that sacrament with him on Sunday.  And because Spencer turned eight a couple months ago, Ryan is going to baptize him on Saturday.  I have the tendency to get sad about this because I wish Dad was here to do all of that, but I'm proud of Ryan for stepping up and being such a good example to the boys.  It'll be a really nice weekend with the family.  Did I mention Spencer just called me and begged me to give the talk on the Holy Ghost at his baptism?  So cool.  :)

AND lastly, my old partner asked me to dance with him at DanceSport Nationals next week.  His current partner has pointed out of novice and pre-champ, and they don't have all their routines for amateur, so they won't be competing.  We got together and started practicing this week.  I'm very excited to be competing.  I don't know how well I'll do, but competing means that I'll have a better chance of getting on back-up tour next year.  **crossing my fingers**  Besides, it's just plain ol' fun!
