Bucket List!
I've done away with FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat this fall, and I'm loving the break. I just haven't quite decided if I'm going to keep this here little-always-a-little-unkempt-undone-not-so-great blog running. It's really not for anyone but myself, I suppose. So I'm just going to keep sporadically adding to it over the years until I decide.
Today, I'm thinking about my ever-changing, ever-updating Bucket List. Here are a few things that are on my mind recently, as well as some always-and-forever items on my list!
Today, I'm thinking about my ever-changing, ever-updating Bucket List. Here are a few things that are on my mind recently, as well as some always-and-forever items on my list!
- Watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from Central Park
- Christmas in NYC
- A nice, long, leisurely stay in the mountains of Switzerland (like Lauterbrunnen)
- Learn German, once and for all (which means I'm going to have to start trying, once and for all)
- Irrrrreeeeland! (Going with Brittany in just a couple of months!)
- Hike Mt. Timpanogos (mostly because Dad used to, and somehow being in the mountains and doing the things he did makes me feel closer to him)
- Learn how to ski
Move to Germany (lol, I'm counting this because I was there for two-months, just came home sooner than I expected; however, I'm sure I'll go back!)- Hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail
- Have all the babies in Europe, where healthcare is awesome and paid maternity/paternity leave is a really real thing
- Spend the entirety of Christmas vacation in a cabin in some snowy mountains somewhere (like Canada)
- Visit Banff National Park
- Ride LOTOJA
- Get a mountain bike
- Fix my body
Start doing yoga- Elope
- Design and build my own home, preferably in the wooded mountains somewhere
- Read Les Miserables
- Go to Patagonia
- Road-trip to Alaska, the same route Dad and Grandpa did
- Fix my ears (for real though)
- Get a black doodle of any sort
Go horseback riding in the mountains- Skinny-dip in the Mediterranean
Go to ParisDrink German beer- See Macklemore in concert
Okay, I could go on. The things I want to do are endless. I think that even if I don't do everything on my list, as long as I'm connecting with people and exploring my surroundings, I'll have lived quite a spectacular life. Already I'm grateful for all the experiences I've had.
And a photo, to wrap this up, because it's Dad's birthday today and it's been eleven years since we last celebrated with him. It doesn't sting the same way it used to, but there's a certain pain that's present because that freshness is gone most days, which means it's too far away, and the memories are fading. Here's to trying to remember him better and longer and in all the best ways. Happy Birthday, Daddio!
