Montana! Roadtrip!
I don't know if this is news to anyone, but I'm a hopeless romantic. Lately I'm attributing this to my age and sex. But in all honesty, I think that I've always been this way and I don't think it's going to change anytime soon. Like I said, I'm hopeless.
So anyway, a couple days ago I had a craving to watch The Horse Whisperer (I get movie cravings like crazy), so I sat down and watched it. I have always loved that movie, partly because I love the scenery so much. Montana mountains and lush green trees, rivers, huge skies... it just looks endless. So between the skies and Robert Redford (because I'm about as in love with him as ever I will be with any actor), I'm feeling all kinds of twitter-pated this week.
But now to get to the really exciting part and why there are four exclamation points in the title.
My mom mentioned the possibility of driving out to Montana next week for a few days, which I jumped on (there were happy and excited tears, naturally), so we pulled out the maps and started planning. Finally I'm going out to see that country! I have a friend from there, actually, and he sent me a picture of his home one day years ago. It was a beautiful home, with a decent back yard, and a nice wood fence, and then beyond the fence was just miles of land and then huge mountains. I fell in love. And also I saw a part of Colorado about five years ago now, and I loved that, so I can only imagine how much I will love Montana. This is huge, guys. I haven't really been anywhere but the Pacific Northwest and Utah for at least five years, so it's about time I see something new. So naturally I'm already getting ahead of myself and thinking that if I love it as much as I think I will, that someday I'll settle down there, open up a cafe in one of the bigger cities. Commute. It'll probably just me and a puppy, unless I run across some dashing fellow who thinks owning a little bit of land and some horses sounds like a great idea. Oh, and being married to me, obviously.
Okay, back to Robert Redford. I just watched him on Inside The Actors Studio (I'm in love, I told you) and he was asked a few questions at the end that just about killed me dead.
1. Q: "What turns you on?"
A: "Early early morning at Sundance... is about as good as it gets."
2. Q: "What's your favorite sound?"
A: "Oh, well I love crickets."
3. Q: "What's your favorite curse word?"
A: "F*ck. But it's no longer unique anymore... I just like the sound of it."
Yeah, I need to find someone like that. But anyway. I'm excited for the trip. You know, even though I'm young and it is only a roadtrip to Montana. Whatever. I can't wait.
